Water Committee Update
Happy New Year to all. Your Water Committee wanted to update you on happenings related to our water situation.
Despite misinformation in the media, we know that Brooke Utilities has been negotiating since February, 2009, with SRP and the Town of Payson to insure that Mesa Del Caballo has adequate water rights to Blue Ridge Reservoir water. The Water Committee, in cooperation with Brooke Utilities, is trying to make the water situation much better before this summer arrives.
The initial surveying for the Hydrologic/Geologic study for Mesa Del Caballo was completed on Monday of this week. After the study is finished, Brooke Utility will have the information to decide if a new well in Mesa Del Caballo would have a reasonable chance of getting us the water we need.
The proposed new conservation levels still have to be approved by the Arizona Corporation Commission.
Our community still has a lot of hurdles to get past but the picture looks much better than it did a few months ago.
