Newsletter

We sent out a newsletter to everyone in our community this week. Enclosed was a form that has 3 parts. The 1st part is a survey. This is critically important. If you do nothing else, please return this in the stamped self-addressed envelope that we provided. We are in the final stages of negotiations for our water rights to C.C. Craigen (Blue Ridge). SRP thinks we need less water than we think we do. In order to prove our point, we need to have an accurate count of our community. We can’t wait for the census data which will be available in 2011. Please help us help you get the water you need.

The 2nd part of the form is our Caballo Club membership application. We need around 188 members to stay solvent. We have less than 50 at this time. If you have already paid, please ignore it.

The 3rd part is if you would like to be a part of the process, ie a board member of the club.

Special thanks go to Pat, Norma, Jeanne, Diane, George, and Irene who helped put the mailing together.

March Events

This Saturday is coffee and donuts at the club house at 8 am. Rumor has it that Don opens it before 8 am for some members that have to be at work. 

Right after the coffee and donuts, we will be doing a cleanup of Houston Mesa Rd. Everyone is invited to help. The weather has been great and we have some fun. Randy actually found a $20 bill in the ditch one day.

The US Forest Service will be doing fuel reduction around our community this week. They will be using 3 Hydro-Axe machines. Please bear with the noise.

As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or email me.

Water Committee Update

Happy New Year to all. Your Water Committee wanted to update you on happenings related to our water situation.

Despite misinformation in the media, we know that Brooke Utilities has been negotiating since February, 2009, with SRP and the Town of Payson to insure that Mesa Del Caballo has adequate water rights to Blue Ridge Reservoir water. The Water Committee, in cooperation with Brooke Utilities, is trying to make the water situation much better before this summer arrives.

The initial surveying for the Hydrologic/Geologic study for Mesa Del Caballo was completed on Monday of this week. After the study is finished, Brooke Utility will have the information to decide if a new well in Mesa Del Caballo would have a reasonable chance of getting us the water we need.

The proposed new conservation levels still have to be approved by the Arizona Corporation Commission.

Our community still has a lot of hurdles to get past but the picture looks much better than it did a few months ago.
